There is no special time for success
There is no special time for success
Mario D'Couto
There is a German proverb which goes thus, "Grow where you are planted. Begin to weave and God will give you the thread." This is like a simplified version of St. Augustine's version "Operative and Co - Operative grace", where operative grace is about God's action in our lives and co - operative grace is our response to that action. It may sound a bit strange but it is true. God's grace is available but He needs our co - operation to actualize it. He will never force us. Whenever Jesus worked a miracle, this was evident.
Perhaps, as John Burroughs would say, "The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are", success is just around the corner. I like the analogy of the stone cutter. Just as a stone cutter may hit a stone a 100 times but which breaks only at the 101st blow, it does not mean that the stone broke at the 101st blow. Rather it was the 100 blows that preceded it that did the 'trick'. Success in life works on the same principle. The point is to begin where you are
and unless if you have taken that initial step, miracles are not going to happen all of a sudden. There are a number of examples that can be cited in order to illustrate this point.
Consider for instance a person learning a particular skill be it in the field of music, sports or any other activity. No one becomes an overnight star. It takes time and effort to reap the fruits. Another example that I can think of is about financial stability. In order to be financially stable or if one wants to achieve financial success, it is important to manage one's finance well right from the start. Farming is another good example. There is no point in just waiting for the rain water to fall on the farm. Crops don't grow that way! One needs to till the ground, sow the seed and create the necessary conditions that would facilitate the crop to grow when the rain falls. The same principle can be applied to different aspects of life, even in the case of relationships.
One consoling fact about life is that it is never too late to change. All that is needed is the will and the desire to change. But the question is, "Do we have it?"
