Jesus in everyday life
JESUS
IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Sometime back, I had seen a video of
Cristiano Ronaldo which amused me while at the same time it brought to my mind
a reflection which is what I would like to share in this article.
The video was about how Cristiano
disguises himself as a beggar and starts playing with a boy. The boy was
innocently playing with the beggar not knowing who he really was. It was only
after some time that the beggar took off the disguise and showed the boy who he
really was.
As soon as he removed the disguise,
the boy was shocked and amazed. He was totally unaware that he was actually
playing with the man who was just declared FIFA’s player of the year (this was in
January 2015). People then began to crowd around him to take pictures of him.
As I watched the video, it suddenly
came to my mind the way we treat God in our lives. Quite often, we run to Him
only in times of trouble, distress or anxiety. At other moments, we forget
about Him. But that is not what we were called for? Sometimes we wait for
something spectacular in order to comprehend the divine but it does not work
that way. God is very much immanent in His creation in as much as He transcends
it. But of course, in order to perceive and understand it, it is a lot more than
just listening or seeing. We will only be able to perceive and understand God
in the daily circumstances of life when our hearts and our minds our attuned to
Him. This certainly does not mean that we have to spend the whole day in
prayer. It is just that when we experience the different facets of our life, we
should never forget that ultimately it is God who is in – charge of everything.
We don’t have to do anything big in
order to find Jesus but we should certainly spend time with Him in prayer. A few
days back, I was reading a book called, “Having
a Mary heart in a Martha world” and I came across this wonderful statement
which is what I would like to conclude with in this article,
“Jesus went from place of prayer to
place of prayer and did miracles in between. How incredible to be so in tune
with God that not one action is wasted, not one word falls to the ground! That is
the intimacy that Jesus invites us to share. He invites us to know Him, to see
Him so clearly that when we look upon Him, we see the face of God as well. It is
impossible to be in the presence of Jesus and not be changed.”
Jesus is alive yesterday, today and
forever; all we have to do is believe in Him!
