The art of effective communication
THE
ART OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Mario
D’Couto
While there is a lot that has been said about communication,
so many seminars, workshops and books written about this particular topic, I summarize
good communication to just two things namely, content and articulation.
Now, I am not an expert on communication nor have I done any workshops or given
any seminars on communication although this is just a humble reflection on
something that I have thought about over a period of time.
Speaking about the two pillars on which the art of effective
communication is based, some people have content
but are not able to articulate well
while some do not have content but have the gift
of the gab. Some have both, the content
as well as the ability to articulate while
some have neither of it. Sure enough, when we speak about effective
communication, it definitely entails voice modulation, flow, opening,
expression and other nitty-gritties. But, in my humble opinion, all this can be
summed up in these two pillars which is content
and articulation.
The ability to communicate ideas is what has taken
humankind to great heights. Let us make use of this God – given gift in a
positive way and not slander one another. Let us use it to build and not destroy.
Let us use it to enlighten and not lead astray. That’s effective communication!
