Looking ahead in a dark tunnel!
LOOKING AHEAD IN A DARK TUNNEL!
Cl. Mario D’Couto SDB
Whenever
we travel in a tunnel either in a train, car or any other vehicle, everything
becomes so dark that we can’t see anything outside. Only the open end in the
tunnel is what we can see. If ever we want to come out of a dark tunnel we have
to pass through the open end. Our lives too are something like that especially in
those times that are rough.
Difficult
experiences are like dark tunnels. We may not see the point in it; we may
grumble at it but at the end of it all, when we come out of it, it is something
liberating. It is therefore important to focus on all that is good rather than
bemoaning the negativities in our lives. There is every possibility of getting
stuck in the tunnel and hence it is up to us, we can get stuck in the tunnel or
we can find a way out through it. The tragedy comes in when we become
complacent. Complacency leads to lethargy. It is like falling and not getting
up.
Last
but not the least, as a saying goes,
“What we think is what we will get,” if we want to achieve something
positive, we need to think positively. We need to keep looking at the open end
of the dark tunnel and walk or move towards it if ever we want to come out of
it.
